India's national epic (along with the RAMAYANA).The MAHABHARATA (the great story of Bharata i.e. India)is a great Sanskrit epic of ancient India wriiten by Vyasa. Composed sometimes in 500 B.C. and divided into 18 parvas(books/chapters). it is one of the oldest and longest epics in the world. The BHAGAVADA GEETA is a part of this poem.
