They always go in pairs, a male and a female, therefore in speaking them both, or of the species in general, the compound word <i><b>"Chakoi-Chakowa"</i></b> is used. However, the word <i><b>"Chakowa"</i></b> is made use of when only one is meant.<br>There are very small resident populations of this species in <b>north-west Africa</b> and <b>Ethiopia</b>, but the main breeding area of this species is from <b>south-east Europe</b> across <b>central Asia</b> to <b>south-east China</b>. It's is fount to be abundant in <b>North-East India</b>. Till now it is in the list of <b>least concerned</b>.</br>
